Introduction

On May 17, 2021, Southeast University was selected as one of the first 12 institutions nationwide to establish the School of Future Technology , and it is the only university in Jiangsu Province receiving this honor. On October 23, 2023, the School of Future Technology was officially established as an independent secondary school of Southeast University. Focusing on the national strategic needs and the characteristics of future technology development, the School takes full advantages of Southeast University's cutting-edge research in numerous first-class engineering disciplines. Its mission is to cultivate forward-looking leading talents in scientific and technological innovation who can steer future development, and to foster original achievements with significant impact on frontier interdisciplinary sciences and future technologies.

The School offers an undergraduate program in "Future Robotics" (Program Code 083201TK). This program, proposed by Southeast University in 2023, is the first program under the "Interdisciplinary Engineering" category established by the Ministry of Education in2023. It is   a new interdisciplinary program supported by strong disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, and Instruments Science and Technology, integrating fields like Information, Electronics, Computer Science, MaterialsScience, Biomedical Engineering, and Medical Imaging. The program aims to cultivate leading talents capable of guiding the development of robotics technology and solving original, interdisciplinary, and disruptive technical problems that may emerge in the robotics field in the next 5 to 10 years.

Guided by interdisciplinary integration and focusing on cutting-edge frontiers in robotics, the School has assembled a high-caliber faculty team consisting of over 130 distinguished experts. The team is led by National Outstanding Educators and Chief Scientists, with doctoral supervisors serving as its core members. Notable strengths include 1 National University Huang Danian-style Faculty Team, 1 Chief Scientist of the National Basic Research Program (973 Program), 1 National Outstanding Educator, 10 National Leading Talents, and 13 National Young Talents. This exceptional faculty provides a solid foundation for program development, core curriculum instruction, and the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents.

In terms of the training mode, the "Future Robotics" program will fully implement the innovative "Three Systems and Five Approaches" education mode. This involves thoroughly executing educational initiatives such as the "Residential College System," "Mentorship System," "Small-Class Teaching," and "Internationalization." The students is cultivated in the mode "3+1+X"which integrates undergraduate-graduate. The program deconstructs and reconstructs multidisciplinary courses into brand-new core courses with interdisciplinary characteristics and modular elective course groups, complemented by comprehensive practical courses throughout the undergraduate stage, aiming to create a new model for talent cultivation.
